Canada Provincial nominees
PROVINCIAL NOMINEES

Comprised of ten provinces and three territories, Canada can be given the tag of a “dream land” of many individuals across the world.

Being a liberal economy and having friendly policies, the country attracts thousands of applicants every year, who seek migration to this beautiful snow-covered land.

As mentioned above, liberty is given to government authorities as well as inhabitants. Owing to this, every province and two territories have their own selection system for immigration (Except for the province of Quebec).

They have their unique and well-crafted Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), under which they invite suitable candidates. These provinces and territories have written agreement with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for having such programs and selection systems.

What is the objective/benefit?

Well, to have a separate immigration program for all the regions is not an easy task.

But, it is a well-thought strategy as with the help of such programs and autonomy in decision-making, each provincial government can select the skilled workers, qualified and experienced people and professionals for their region, after confirming that their knowledge, skills and capabilities can contribute to the growth of their economy.

Thus, they attain the goal of fulfilling the demand for specific skills and experience.

And it also helps individuals to apply for immigration to the territory or province they wish, after considering various factors.

Different Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

Currently, different PNPs are in place, which can be shown as below:

1) British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP)

2) Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP)

3) Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP)

4) Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

5) Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP)

6) New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NB PNP)

7) Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP)

8) Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP)

9) Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP)

10) The Northwest Territories Nominee Program

11) The Yukon Nominee Program

Eligibility criteria

Every PNP has its own eligibility criteria, rules and selection process, adhering to which the regional government and immigration authorities take a decision.

But, most of the factors to be considered can be shown as below:

The official websites of the provinces and territories can be referred for knowing the details about the eligibility criteria and selection process.

How to apply?

For applying to any of the PNP, you can choose from the following 2 ways:

1. Apply directly to the province/territory (Non-Express Entry System) 2. Apply through Express Entry System
First things first

Before adopting any of the ways for initiating the process, you should make sure to complete the following two mandatory things:

1. Language proficiency

You need to show that you are at least at intermediate level in one of the two official languages of Canada – English and French.

And for this, you need to appear in any one of the language tests approved by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and submit your score at the time of application.

2. Educational Credential Assessment:

If you have completed your education in a country other than Canada, you need to get your qualifications assessed against Canadian standards. This is known as the Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). You need to submit the result of this while applying.

Other factors
What happens after visa approval?

If your visa application gets approved, you get the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). If you belong to a country, from where migrants should be given a permanent resident visa, you are issued that as well.

You need to carry this, while coming to Canada.

Certain important points to be considered
1. Language test results:

The language test results remain valid only for two years. Hence, your test results should be less than two years old when you submit the same with the application.

2. Validity of Express Entry profile:

Your profile created in the Express Entry System remains valid for 12 months and so, if you do not receive the nomination under any PNP and invitation to apply, you can make changes in the profile (new skills or experience gained) for re-consideration.
